Introduction

Point of Sales (POS) systems have become essential for local business owners across several industries to drive growth and generate more revenue. The market size value of POS software reached $9.3 billion and it is forecasted to grow to $18.0 billion by 2027. The POS system implementation is targeted for the “Nepal” region.

So with increasing internet usage and technology in Nepal, the business team want to introduce POS system to enable local business and shopkeepers to change from the traditional cash transaction to digital.

Problem

Business have to deal with a large number of customers every day. To maintain the customer pressure at peak time they have to deal with a faster transaction rate. Slower transaction rate is a barrier between the customer satisfaction and profit.
We were using manual billing and manual coupon system. Customers used to pay their bills and we used to make their bills, KOTs and coupons manually. But at the peak time it is become impossible to maintain such age old procedure with the increasing customer pressure. At the day end we have a heap of bills to calculate all them manually.

Challanges

  • How to decrease the time taken for the transactions?

  • How to increase the customers footfall?

  • Need to have an daily and detailed reporting system.

  • Need a way to have the money directed to bank account.

  • How can we improve Customer satisfaction

  • Customers are used to pay through mobile?

  • Cut the paper bills to support and save environment

  • How to reduce the cash leakage due to manual collection/payment?

The Outcome

By Providing the POS software, which can be deployed in any hardware. In having this system in place, we managed to increase business and local shopkeepers, with the following solutions.
- Customers are happy with fast billing process
- Due to the POS solution the business sees Increase profit
- Overall customers are happy with the payment experience
- Employees are happy with the less manual work at the end of the day.
- Cash leakage are reduced and reports are seen and sent to manager/owners in a single click.
- ROI is good with the Increased Margins

User Research: understanding challenges and opportunities

Involved myself with the business and sales team in research process, we conducted the following to better understand the challenges faced by local shopkeepers, and small business. Our findings revealed that users were using cash transaction daily, customers waiting more time at the shops during billing and payment, daily profits calculation is manual this takes more time.

This enabled us to comprehend their daily tasks, reports, less time at billing and payment with the POS software. The insights highlighted the need for a more easy, simple and efficient POS system to local shopkeepers and their customers life easy and happy.
